The2024Kansas City Royals season was the 56th season for the franchise, and their 52nd atKauffman Stadium. It was also the team's second season under the management ofMatt Quatraro. The season was a major improvement for the Royals; after finishing with only 56 wins and 106 losses in2023, the second-worst during theMajor League Baseball season just behind theOakland Athletics, the 2024 Royals won their 56th game on July 2, and won 86 games total, 30 more than the previous season. The 2024 Royals were one of only six teams since1969 to achieve a season-to-season improvement of 30 wins.[1] The Royals made MLB history with the biggest turnaround in two seasons.

On September 14, the Royals secured their first winning record since theWorld Series-winning2015 team. On September 27, they clinched apostseason berth for the first time since 2015 when theMinnesota Twins lost to theBaltimore Orioles.[2] They swept the Orioles in the2024 American League Wild Card Series, a rematch of the2014 American League Championship Series, which the Royals won in a four-game sweep. They were then defeated by theNew York Yankees in theAmerican League Division Series in four games, the first postseason matchup between the two since the1980 ALCS.
