Previous season

TheGolden Eagles finished the2023–24 season 27–10, 14–6 in Big East play to finish in tie for second place. As a No. 3 seed in theBig East tournament they defeatedVillanova in the quarterfinals andProvidence in the semifinals to advance to the championship game where they lost toUConn.[1][2][3] They received an at-large bid to theNCAA tournament as the No. 2 seed in the South region. They defeatedWestern Kentucky in the first round andColorado in the second round before getting upset in the sweet sixteen byNC State.
