Laura Siegemund andVera Zvonareva defeatedNicole Melichar-Martinez andEllen Perez in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the doubles tennis title at the 2023 WTA Finals.[1] Siegemund became the first German WTA Finals doubles champion.
Veronika Kudermetova andElise Mertens were the reigning champions,[2] but Kudermetova did not qualify this year. Mertens partneredStorm Hunter, but lost in the semifinals to Siegemund and Zvonareva.
Hunter attained theyear-end WTA No. 1 doubles ranking afterCoco Gauff andJessica Pegula were eliminated in the round robin competition.[3]Gabriela Dabrowski,Kateřina Siniaková, Siegemund, andShuko Aoyama were also in contention for the top ranking at the beginning of the tournament.[4]
