State elections in 2022 were held inJohor in March 2022 after the dissolution of thelegislative assembly in January 2022.[1] On 10 October 2022, Prime MinisterIsmail Sabri Yaakob announced in a special announcement on television that theDewan Rakyat would be dissolved, hence paving way for the15th General Election.[2] Additionally, he recommended that other states with the exception ofJohor,Malacca,Sarawak &Sabah do the same.
Consequently,Barisan Nasional Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi proclaimed that BN-led states (Perlis, Pahang & Perak) would be dissolved simultaneously.[3]
On 14 October 2022, thePerlis andPahang state legislatures were dissolved.[4][5]
