A primary election on June 12, 2018, determined which candidates appeared on the November 6general election ballot. Primary election results can be obtained from theMaine Secretary of State's website.[1]
Following the 2016 state house elections,Democrats maintained effective control of the House with 77 members and two coalitionGreen representatives.Republicans held 72 seats following the 2016 elections. Following several vacancies and replacements between 2016 and 2018, on election day 2018, theDemocrats had increased their majority to 74 Democrats, one Green, and six Independent representatives, while the Republicans had decreased from 72 to 70 seats.[2]
