Presidential elections were held inIraq on 2 October 2018 to elect thePresident of Iraq for a four-year term viaindirect suffrage by theCouncil of Representatives.[1] The result was a win forBarham Salih, who received 219 votes.[2] The position is largely ceremonial, with Iraq being aparliamentary system.
There were 31 candidates for the election, with only seven being approved to run.[3]
