The2018–19 Columbus Blue Jackets season was the19th season for theNational Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 25, 1997.[2] On April 5, 2019, the Blue Jackets clinched a playoff spot after a 3–2 shootout win over theNew York Rangers.[3]
The Blue Jackets won their first ever playoff series by sweeping thePresidents' Trophy winners, theTampa Bay Lightning, in the First Round of the playoffs.[4] However, the Blue Jackets were not able to carry their success into the Second Round, and they were eliminated by theBoston Bruins in six games.

The Blue Jackets faced theTampa Bay Lightning in the First Round of the playoffs,[9] and swept the series in four games, marking the first time in franchise history the team won a playoff series.[10]
