The2017 Southern Utah Thunderbirds football team representedSouthern Utah University in the2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by second-year head coachDemario Warren and played their home games atEccles Coliseum inCedar City, Utah as sixth-year as members of theBig Sky Conference.[1] They finished the season 9–3, 7–1 in Big Sky play to earn a share of the conference championship withWeber State.[2][3] They received the conference's automatic bid to theFCS Playoffs where they lost to Weber State in the second round.[4][5][6]
