The2017 CWHL draft was the eighth in the history of theCanadian Women's Hockey League. It took place on August 20, 2017, marking the first time that the Draft involvedKunlun Red Star WIH, one of two expansion teams in the league,[1] who are also joined by theVanke Rays.
The list of prospects for the Draft included goaltenderNoora Raty from Finland, forwardAlex Carpenter andMelodie Daoust. All three were participants in the2014 Winter Olympics.Courtney Turner was selected with the first overall pick in the draft, claimed by the Boston Blades.[2]
