The2017–18 season was the eighth in the history ofMelbourne City Football Club. In addition to thedomestic league, the club competed in theFFA Cup for the fourth time.

On 19 June 2017,Warren Joyce was appointed manager of the club, Joyce having previously managed theManchester United Reserves,Royal Antwerp andWigan Athletic.[1] On 7 November 2017,Joe Montemurro left his position as assistant coach of the club to take up the senior coaching position atArsenal Women.[2]
