The2016 Il Lombardia (also known as theGiro di Lombardia or theTour of Lombardy[1]) took place inLombardy inNorthern Italy on 1 October 2016. It was the 110th edition of theIl Lombardiaroad bicycle race and the closing event of the2016 UCI World Tour.[2]
Colombian riderEsteban Chaves won the race in a three-man sprint inBergamo with ItalianDiego Rosa and his countrymanRigoberto Urán.[3]
The 18UCI World Tour teams were automatically invited and obliged to line up. The race organisation invited seven furtherUCI Professional Continental teams with wildcards. Each team had a maximum of eight riders:[4]
