On 21 August 2016, a doublesuicidebombing occurred inGalkayo,Mudug,Somalia.[1] It killed 20 people and injured another 30.[1] The first was a truckbombing which targeted localgovernmentheadquarters in the city.[1] The second was acar bombing which targeted theemergency services responding to the first bombing.[1]Islamist groupal-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the double bombing.[1]
Al-Shabaab also carried outmass murders in Galkayo on 26 November 2018[2] and 21 December 2019.[3]
