Serena Williams defeatedGarbiñe Muguruza in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the2015 Wimbledon Championships. It was her sixthWimbledon singles title and 21stmajor singles title overall. With the win, Williams completed her second "Serena Slam", anon-calendar year Grand Slam.[1][2] This also marked the firstChannel Slam (winning theFrench Open and Wimbledon in the same year) in women's singles since Williams herself in2002. Williams defeated four former and future world No. 1 players consecutively to win the title:her sisterVenus Williams,Victoria Azarenka,Maria Sharapova, and Muguruza.

Petra Kvitová was the defending champion, but lost toJelena Janković in the third round.

Muguruza was the first Spaniard to reach the final sinceArantxa Sánchez Vicario in1996. She wouldwin the title two years later.

This marked the first major main draw appearance of futureFrench Open championJeļena Ostapenko; she lost toKristina Mladenovic in the second round.
