Voters in the20 even-numbered districts of theCalifornia State Senate elected their representatives. The elections coincided with the elections for other offices, including theState Assembly election and thegubernatorial election.
TheCalifornia Republican Party won the newly drawn28th district and the open34th district, gaining two seats from theCalifornia Democratic Party and ending the Democrats'supermajority in the chamber.
