The2013–14 FA Cup (also known asThe FA Cup withBudweiser for sponsorship reasons) was the 133rd season of theFA Cup, the main domestic cup competition inEnglish football, and the oldestfootball knock-out competition in the world. It was sponsored byBudweiser for a third consecutive season.[1] 737 clubs from England and Wales entered the competition, which began with the extra preliminary round on 16 August.[2][3] For the first time in the history of the FA Cup, a team fromGuernsey entered the competition,Guernsey F.C.,[4] who made it to the second round qualifying.

Football League Championship sideWigan Athletic were the defending champions, but they were eliminated by eventual winnersArsenal in the semi-finals. They won the FA Cup while still in thePremier League, beatingManchester City 1–0 in the2013 final;[5] they were relegated just days after the final.

Thefinal was played on 17 May 2014 atWembley Stadium, and saw Arsenal faceHull City. Arsenal were 2–0 down within the first 8 minutes, however, they were able to equalise through a free kick dispatched bySanti Cazorla and another goal byLaurent Koscielny, taking the match into extra time.Aaron Ramsey would score the winner for Arsenal in the 109th minute to give the club their 11th FA Cup, a tied record together withManchester United.[6]

As the winners of the FA Cup, Arsenal were entitled to play in the2014–15 UEFA Europa League group stage. However, Arsenal had already qualified for the2014–15 UEFA Champions League after finishing fourth in the2013–14 Premier League soHull City took the Europa League place as the FA Cup runners-up. Since Hull City did not win the Cup, they did not qualify for the group stage (as the Cup winners would do). Instead they qualified for thethird qualifying round and the other English teams already qualified for Europa League,Everton andTottenham Hotspur, moved up one round to theEuropa League group stage andplay-off round respectively.
