The2012 United States presidential election in Maryland took place on November 6, 2012, as part of the2012 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus theDistrict of Columbia participated. Maryland voters chose 10 electors to represent them in theElectoral College via a popular vote pittingincumbentDemocraticPresidentBarack Obama and his running mate,Vice PresidentJoe Biden, againstRepublican challenger and formerMassachusetts GovernorMitt Romney and his running mate,CongressmanPaul Ryan.

Maryland is one of six states where Obama performed better in 2012 than in 2008, with his percentage of the vote increasing from 61.92% to 61.97%. He flippedSomerset County but lostKent County which he won in2008. In this election, Maryland voted 22.21% to the left of the nation at-large.[2]

As of the2024 presidential election, this is the last time a Republican wonAnne Arundel County and a Democrat wonSomerset County.
