TFF Süper Kupa 2011 should have been the 39th edition of theTurkish Super Cup since its establishment asPresidential Cup in 1966. The match was going to be contested between the2010–11 Süper Lig championsFenerbahçe and the2010–11 Turkish Cup winnersBeşiktaş. The match was to be played on 31 July 2011[1] but the TFF postponed[2] but was cancelled after thematch fixing scandal investigations. The venue for the final would have been theErzurum Universiade Arena, which would have hosted its firstTurkish Super Cup final.

On 27 December 2021, Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court acquitted[3] Fenerbahçe executivesAziz Yıldırım, Şekip Mosturoğlu, İlhan Ekşioğlu and others, which made the issue of replaying the match moot on Fenerbahçe side and they posted an announcement about their application to theTurkish Football Federation on 30 December.[4] On Beşiktaş side, Emre Karadağ, Beşiktaş deputy chairman, declared that they would be willing to compete.[5] The Turkish Football Federation presidentNihat Özdemir said that the issue would be under review in the board meeting, also that he supports the idea of replaying the match.[6]

[edit]

Fenerbahçe were champions by 26 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses, collecting 82 points overall. They were trailed byTrabzonspor, which collected the same number of points but came second due to head-to-head record. This also meant setting a new national record for Fenerbahçe, as they grabbed their record 18th title.[8]

On the other hand, Beşiktaş finished fifth in theSüper Lig, but were more successful in thedomestic cup. They won the playoff round againstMersin İdmanyurdu, and won the group stage by three wins and one loss. They eliminated quarter finalistsGaziantep B.B. and semi finalistsGaziantepspor. Beşiktaş won their ninth cup by a decisive penalty shootout against first time finalistsİstanbul B.B.[9]
