The2011 New Mexico Lobos football team represented theUniversity of New Mexico as a member of theMountain West Conference (MW) during the2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Lobos compiled an overall record of 1–11 with a mark of 1–6 in conference play, placing in a three-way tie for sixth at the bottom of the MW standings. The team played home games atUniversity Stadium inAlbuquerque, New Mexico.
New Mexico began the season under third-year head coachMike Locksley, who was fired on September 25, after an 0–4 start. Associate head coach anddefensive coordinatorGeorge Barlow was appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the season. On November 16, New Mexico announced the hiring of formerNotre Dame head coach andESPN analystBob Davie as their new head coach beginning in the 2012 season.[1]
