During 2011 and 2012,Bristol Rovers Football Club participated inLeague Two, the fourth level of English football. It was 129th season of football played byBristol Rovers, and their 85th in the Football League. The previous sawBristol Rovers end a four-year tenure in League One. Despite initial optimism of an instant return, the campaign proved disappointing as Rovers struggled for much of the season under new managerPaul Buckle before being replaced byMark McGhee who brought about an upturn in fortunes to finish 13th.

The 2011–12 campaign sawBristol Rovers playBurton Albion,Crawley Town andMorecambe for the first time,[1] and featured a number of local matches against the likes ofCheltenham Town,Plymouth Argyle,Swindon Town, andTorquay United.

  • 5 April 2012Scott McGleish's loan withBarnet was extended for the rest of the season.[67]
  • 14 April 2012Bristol Rovers hammerBurton Albion 7–1, the first time Rovers have scored 7 past anyone since 1973. It was also managerMark McGhee's biggest victory of his managerial career so far.[68]
  • 27 April 2012 – YoungstersEliot Richards andOllie Clarke sign contracts extensions atBristol Rovers of two years and one year respectively.[69]

  • 4 May 2012Conor Gough signed forBristol Rovers on an emergency seven-day loan fromCharlton Athletic. Rovers had already agreed to sign Gough permanently in the summer.[70]
  • 5 May 2012Bristol Rovers'season finished on a disappointing note, losing 4–0 toDagenham & Redbridge. They finished 13th in the league table having picked up 57 points.
