The2007–08 South African Premiership, known as theABSA Premiership for sponsorship purposes, and also commonly referred to as thePSL after the governing body, was the twelfth season of thePremiership since its establishment in 1996.

It was won bySupersport United, their first league title.[4][5]

Team changes

Silver Stars, runners-up in the previous season, were sponsored by theRoyal Bafokeng Nation, and were renamedPlatinum Stars, moving to theRoyal Bafokeng Stadium nearRustenburg, whileBenoni United sold their franchise toThanda Zulu Royal, located in Durban.[4]

Maritzburg United were relegated at the end of the2006–07 season, and replaced by2006–07 National First Division championsFree State Stars.

Sponsorship

The league was renamed the ABSA Premiership after a R500-million sponsorship deal with banking group ABSA.[6]
