The2006Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season was the46th season of theLos Angeles Angels franchise in theAmerican League, the 41st inAnaheim, and their 41st season playing their home games atAngel Stadium. It began with the team trying to win their third consecutiveAmerican League West title. However, they came up short, finishing in second place with a record of 89–73, missing the postseason for the first time since 2003. But the biggest story of the year was longtime Angels mainstayTim Salmon playing his final season. Towards the end of the season, not only were the fans excited with trying to get into the playoffs in the final month of the season, but they were excited about Salmon trying to hit his 300thhome run. Eventually, he ended with 299, one short of the milestone.
