The2006 Alabama gubernatorial election occurred on November 7, 2006. Incumbent Republican GovernorBob Riley defeated Democratic Lieutenant GovernorLucy Baxley. Riley garnered 21% ofAfrican Americans' votes.

Riley was the first Republican to carry the countiesBibb,Cherokee,Etowah,Jackson, andLauderdale since Reconstruction. This is the last time gubernatorial nominee and a lieutenant gubernatorial nominee of different political parties were elected in Alabama.
