The 2006–07Taça de Portugal was the 67th edition of the Portuguesefootball knockout tournament, organized by thePortuguese Football Federation (FPF). The 2006–07 Taça de Portugal began on 3 September 2006.[1] The final was played on 27 May 2007 at theEstádio Nacional.

Porto were the previous holders, having defeatedVitória de Setúbal 1–0 in the previous season's final.[2] Porto was not able to regain their title as they were defeated byAtlético CP in the fourth round.[3]Sporting CP defeatedBelenenses 1–0 in the final to win their 14th Taça de Portugal.[4] By winning the Taça de Portugal, Sporting CP qualified for the2007 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira.[5]

First round

For the first round draw, teams were drawn against each other in accordance to their geographical location. The draw was split up into four sections: teams from the north, the center, the south and theAzores region. The draw for the first round took place on 8 August.[6] All first round cup ties were played on 3 September.[7][8] Due to the odd number of teams involved at this stage of the competition,1º de Dezembro,Canedo, Cartaxo, Lajense,Macedo de Cavaleiros,Penamacorense andUnião da Serra progressed to the next round.[9] Vasco da Gama AC were scheduled to playCasa Pia, but forfeited their match due to the club folding at the beginning of the 2006–07 season.[10] The first round of the cup saw teams from theTerceira Divisão (IV) start the competition alongside some teams who registered to participate in the cup from thePortuguese District Leagues (V).
