The2005 Hampton Pirates football team representedHampton University as a member of theMid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) during the2005 NCAA Division I-AA football season. Led by 14th-year head coachJoe Taylor, the Pirates compiled an overall record of 11–1, with a mark of 9–0 in conference play, and finished as MEAC champion. Hampton finished their season with a loss againstRichmond in the Division I-AA playoffs. At the conclusion of the season, the Pirates were also recognized asblack college national champion.
