2005 Asia Series

The firstKonami Cup Asia Series was held in November 2005 with four teams participating. The champions from the domestic leagues inJapan,South Korea andTaiwan along with a team of all stars fromChina's domestic league took part in the competition. All games were held in theTokyo Dome inJapan. The tournament was sponsored by theNippon Professional Baseball Association andKonami. TheChiba Lotte Marines defeated theSamsung Lions in the title game to win the championship forJapan. OutfielderBenny Agbayani was named the MVP of the series.
