Elections to the 185thMassachusetts Senate were held on November 2, 2004. TheDemocrats picked up one formerRepublican seat. The 185thMassachusetts General Court began in January 2005, and consisted of 34 Democrats and 6 Republican State Senators.

The2004 Massachusetts House election was held on the same date as the Senate election, as well asFederal and Congressional elections. Massachusetts Senators serve two-year terms.[1]
