As leaguechampions, Celtic qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage, withrunners-upRangers also qualifying to the third qualifying round. Third-placedHearts qualified for theUEFA Cup, as didDunfermline Athletic, who took theScottish Cup place despite losing the final to Celtic.
During the season, Celtic set a Scottish record of 25 successive wins.[1]
Partick Thistle were relegated, andFirst Division winnersInverness Caledonian Thistle were promoted.
Celtic'sHenrik Larsson was the top scorer with 30 goals.
Motherwell finished bottom of the2002–03 Scottish Premier League but were spared relegation, as2002–03 Scottish First Division championsFalkirk were denied promotion due to their lack of an appropriate stadium for theScottish Premier League.
