The2002 DFB-Pokal Final decided the winner of the2001–02 DFB-Pokal, the 59th season of Germany's premier knockoutfootball cup competition. It was played on 11 May 2002 at theOlympiastadion inBerlin.[3]Schalke 04 won the match 4–2 againstBayer Leverkusen to claim their 4th cup title.
The DFB-Pokal began with 64 teams in asingle-elimination knockout cup competition. There were a total of five rounds leading up to the final. Teams were drawn against each other, and the winner after 90 minutes would advance. If still tied, 30 minutes ofextra time was played. If the score was still level, apenalty shoot-out was used to determine the winner.[4]
