The2001 Italian Open[4][2][5] also known as2001 Rome Masters[6] was atennis tournament played onoutdoor clay courts. It was the 58th edition of theItalian Open and was part of theTennis Masters Series of the2001 ATP Tour and ofTier I of the2001 WTA Tour. Both the men's and women's events took place at theForo Italico inRome inItaly. The men's tournament was played from 7 May through 13 May 2001 while the women's tournament was played from 14 May through 20 May 2001.
