1D-AL-LAD, also known as1-(1,2-dimethylcyclobutane-1-carbonyl)-AL-LAD, is apsychedelic drug of thelysergamide family related toAL-LAD.[1][2] It is thought to be aprodrug of AL-LAD similarly to how1D-LSD is a prodrug of LSD.[1] 1D-AL-LAD was encountered online as a noveldesigner drug in 2023 and 2024.[1] It is said to have a dose of 100 to 300 μgorally, a time to peak effects of 2 to 2.5 hours, and aduration of 12 hours.[1] The drug is said have "half the intensity" of LSD, with its effects includingpsychedelic visuals among others.[1] Although 1D-AL-LAD has reported to have been sold, some or all of the sold product appears to have actually been mislabeled1T-AL-LAD.[2][3] 1D-AL-LAD is not an explicitlycontrolled substance in theUnited States[4] or inCanada.[5]
Since the end of 2023, a novel compound "1D-AL-LAD" appeared on X (formerly Twitter) and other websites. According to the Wikipedia article, "1D-LSD" is 1-(1,2-dimethylcyclobutanecarbonyl)-LSD (Figure 1c),22 a type of Group A LSD analog. However, there are no reports on this compound, except on Wikipedia. Meanwhile, our group identified 1T-LSD on the blotter paper labeled "1D-LSD". 11 This was the first report of 1T-LSD and false labeling of 1D-LSD. Another group in Japan reported similar results for 1D-LSD and 1T-LSD.12 Additionally, 1,2-dimethylcyclobutanecarboxylic acid (a compound required to obtain 1D-LSD) is only dealt with by a few contract synthesis companies and is expensive. This implies that all or at least a certain percentage of "1D-AL-LAD" could be 1-(2-thienoyl) AL-LAD23 (1T-AL-LAD).
Although the synthesized 1T-AL-LAD compound has been characterized previously [20], this is the first study to identify 1T-AL-LAD in the sheet product that was obtained on the internet. Product B was described as containing 1D-AL-LAD, a compound with a 1,2-dimethylcyclobutane- 1-carbonyl group at the N 1 position of LSD. However, as in the case of 1T-LSD (sold as 1D-LSD), it was a compound with a thiophene-2-carbonyl group at the N 1 position of AL- LAD, 1T-AL-LAD. It is necessary to confirm the structure by analysis, since the compound labeled on the product may actually be different one.
