  • This was the first Busch Series race in which veteran driverMark Martin had failed to qualify for since February 1993.
  • Elton Sawyer entered this race with a microscopic 1 point lead in Busch Series standings, but due to engine troubles just 15 laps into the race, Sawyer had to drop out of the race, causing him to drop from first in points to third with a 114-point deficit to new standings leaderDale Earnhardt Jr.

He has since recovered, although he has not run a NASCAR race since. This wasCasey Atwood's first career Busch Series victory as he moved Jeff Green out of the way on the final turn of the final lap.
