The1998 European Tour, titled as the1998 PGA European Tour,[1] was the 27th season of theEuropean Tour, the mainprofessional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972.

Changes for 1998

For the first time the schedule included theMasters Tournament,U.S. Open andPGA Championship, although winnings did not count towards the Order of Merit. There were several changes from the previous season with the addition of theQatar Masters, the return of theBelgian Open and the loss of theDimension Data Pro-Am.

In March, theChemapol Trophy Czech Open was cancelled in the wake ofsevere floods across the country in July 1997;[2] it was later replaced on the schedule by theGerman Open.[3] In July, the tour announced the cancellation of theOki Pro-Am.[4]

Order of Merit
