The team won their first-everNational League Central title, and theNLDS in three straight games over theLos Angeles Dodgers before losing theNLCS in four games to the eventual World Series championAtlanta Braves. It was both the last season for managerDavey Johnson and the last (as of 2025) playoff series victory for the Reds.
