  • Ryne Sandberg became the first second baseman to lead the National League in home runs sinceRogers Hornsby in 1925.
  • Sandberg also set the Major League record for consecutive errorless games at second base with 124.

All-Star Game

The1990Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 61st playing of the midsummer classic between theall-stars of theAmerican League (AL) andNational League (NL), the two leagues comprisingMajor League Baseball. The game was held on July 10, 1990, atWrigley Field inChicago, the home of theChicago Cubs of the National League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National League 2-0. The game is remembered for a rain delay in the 7th inning that resulted in CBS airingRescue 911 during the delay.
