The1990–91Scottish Challenge Cup was the inaugural season of the competition, which was also known as theB&Q Centenary Cup for sponsorship reasons. It was competed for by the 28 member clubs of theScottish Football League Division One and Two.

The final was played on 11 November 1990,[1][2] betweenAyr United andDundee atFir Park inMotherwell. Dundee won 3–2 afterextra time[2] to become the first winners of the cup.
