The1988–89 season was the 107th season in the history ofTottenham Hotspur Football Club, and their 11th consecutive season in the top flight ofEnglish football. In addition to thedomestic league, the club participated in theFA Cup and theFootball League Cup. Entering the 1988–89 season,Terry Venables stayed on as manager for his second season in charge of Tottenham with the team ending in sixth position, nineteen points behind eventual championsArsenal. In theFA Cup, they got knocked out by second division team,Bradford City and they got knocked out in the fourth round of theFootball League Cup bySouthampton.
