The1987–88 Copa México was the 60th edition of theCopa México and the 33rd edition in the professional era. This tournament marked the return of the competition after a twelve-year hiatus.

The competition started on 29 January 1988 and concluded on 8 June 1988 with the final, held at theEstadio Cuauhtémoc inPuebla City, in whichPuebla lifted the trophy for the third time ever with anaway goal victory overCruz Azul.

This edition was contested by the top 16Primera División teams at the end of Round 19 of the1987–88 Mexican Primera División season;Atlético Potosino,Irapuato,Tampico Madero andTigres UANL were excluded. The tournament was played as a two-legged knockout stage, with matches held home and away.
