The1986 Maryland attorney general election was held on 4 November 1986 in order to elect theattorney general of Maryland.Democratic nominee andincumbentLieutenant Governor of MarylandJ. Joseph Curran Jr. won the election as he ran unopposed.[1]

On election day, 4 November 1986,Democratic nomineeJ. Joseph Curran Jr. won the election as he ran unopposed, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of attorney general. Curran was sworn in as the 44thattorney general of Maryland on 3 January 1987.[2]
