The1986–87 season of theEuropean Cup Winners' Cup was won byAjax in the final againstLokomotive Leipzig. The young Ajax side, which included the likes ofMarco van Basten,Frank Rijkaard andDennis Bergkamp, was guided to victory by its coachJohan Cruyff. It was Ajax's only title in the competition, and was added to a hat-trick ofEuropean Cup wins from1971 to1973. They also went on to win another European Cup and aUEFA Cup in the 1990s.
