General elections were held inSan Marino on 29 May 1983.[1] TheSammarinese Christian Democratic Party remained the largest party, winning 26 of the 60 seats in theGrand and General Council.[2] Following the elections theSammarinese Communist Party continued their coalition with theSammarinese Socialist Party and theUnitary Socialist Party.
Voters had to be citizens of San Marino and at least 18 years old. This was the first Sammarinese general election in which suffrage was granted to people under 24 years of age.
