The1983NCAA women's gymnastics championships were contested at the second annual tournament hosted by theNCAA to determine the individual and team national champions of women'sgymnastics among its member programs in theUnited States.[1]

This was the first competition after the NCAA took full control of women's collegiate gymnastics from theAIAW, whose final standalonechampionships had been held in 1982.

The competition took place from April 8–9 inSalt Lake City, Utah, hosted by theUniversity of Utah at theSpecial Events Center.
