The1982 New York State Attorney General election took place on 2 November 1982 in order to elect theAttorney General of New York.Democratic nominee andincumbent Attorney GeneralRobert Abrams won re-election againstRepublican nomineeFrances A. Sciafani,Right to Life nomineeKevin P. McGovern andLibertarian nomineeDolores Grande.[1]

On election day, 2 November 1982,Democratic nomineeRobert Abrams won re-election by a margin of 1,496,476 votes against his foremost opponentRepublican nomineeFrances A. Sciafani, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of Attorney General. Abrams was sworn in for his second term on 3 January 1983.[2]
