The1982 NSL Cup was the sixth edition of theNSL Cup, which was the main nationalassociation footballknockout cup competition inAustralia. The competition was known as thePhilips Cup under a sponsorship arrangement with Dutch companyPhilips.
Brisbane Lions were the defending champions, having defeatedWest Adelaide to win their first title in the previous year'sfinal, but they were eliminated in the semi-finals byAPIA Leichhardt.
APIA Leichhardt defeatedHeidelberg United 2–1 in thefinal to win their first NSL Cup title.[1]
TheNSL Cup was a knockout competition with 16 teams taking part all trying to reach the Final in September 1982.[2] The competition consisted of the 16 teams from theNational Soccer League.
