This article describes the history of West Indies cricket from 1981 to 1990.
During this decade, theWest Indies cricket team dominatedTest cricket. Outstanding players of the time were the captainViv Richards, opening batsmenGordon Greenidge andDesmond Haynes, wicketkeeper-batsmanJeff Dujon and a battery of fast bowlers headed byMalcolm Marshall and includingJoel Garner,Michael Holding,Curtly Ambrose andCourtney Walsh. The only "achilles heel" in this outstanding team was the lack of a quality spin bowler.
