The1981Milwaukee Brewers season was the franchise's 13th overall season and 12th season based inMilwaukee. The Brewers finished first inAmerican League East during the second half of thesplit season (caused by the1981 Major League Baseball strike) and compiled an overall record of 62 wins and 47 losses. The team advanced to the postseason for the first time in franchise history due to their second-half first-place finish, but lost to theNew York Yankees in theALDS.Rollie Fingers became the first relief pitcher in the history of theAmerican League to win theMVP Award.[1]
