Parliamentary elections were held inIceland on 25 June 1978.[1] TheIndependence Party remained the largest party in the Lower House of theAlthing, winning 14 of the 40 seats.[2] Following the election a coalition was formed between thePeople's Alliance,Social Democratic Party and theProgressive Party withÓlafur Jóhannesson asPrime Minister.
