The1975USA Indoor Track and Field Championships were held atMadison Square Garden inNew York City, New York. Organized by theAmateur Athletic Union (AAU), the competition took place on February 28 and served as thenational championships in indoortrack and field for theUnited States.[1]
At the championships,Dwight Stones was expected to try for the 7 ft 6 in (2.28 m) world record in thehigh jump.[2][3] The championships served as a selection event for a dual meet against the Soviet Union athletics team soon after inRichmond, Virginia. It was highlighted by foreign guests includingMiruts Yifter.[4]
The 1975 women's championships marked the first time that thetwo miles event was added, and the first time that any event over 1 mile was contested.[5]
