Official list of the best college football players of 1975
The1975 All-America college football team is composed ofcollege football players who were selected asAll-Americans by various organizations and writers that choseCollege Football All-America Teams in 1975. TheNational Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recognizes four selectors as "official" for the 1975 season. They are:[ 1] (1) theAmerican Football Coaches Association (AFCA);[ 2] (2) theAssociated Press (AP) selected based on the votes of sports writers at AP newspapers;[ 3] (3) theFootball Writers Association of America (FWAA) selected by the nation's football writers;[ 4] and (4) theUnited Press International (UPI) selected based on the votes of sports writers at UPI newspapers.[ 5] Other selectors includedFootball News (FN),[ 6] theNewspaper Enterprise Association (NEA),[ 7] The Sporting News (TSN),[ 8] Time magazine,[ 9] and theWalter Camp Football Foundation (WC).
Three players were unanimously selected by all four official selectors and all five unofficial selectors. They were running backArchie Griffin of Ohio State, defensive linemenSteve Niehaus of Notre Dame andLee Roy Selmon of Oklahoma.
The1975 Oklahoma Sooners football team had seven players who received first-team honors.
