College Division teams (also referred to as "small college") were ranked in polls by theAP (a panel of writers) and byUPI (coaches). The national champion(s) for each season were determined by the final poll rankings, published at or near the end of the regular season, before any bowl games were played.
In 1969, both services ranked 9–0North Dakota State first and 10–0Montana second. They later met in theCamellia Bowl, which North Dakota State won, 30–3.[1]
