The1966–67 season isReal Madrid Club de Fútbol's64th season in existence and the club's35th consecutive season in the top flight of Spanish football.

Summary

During Autumn the team lost the1966 Intercontinental Cup against Uruguayan sidePeñarol,[1] being defeated the two matches of the series.[2] The club won its 12th League title ever, finishing five points above runners-upCF Barcelona.[3] New arrivals were Junquera from Langreo, Zunzunegui,[4] Chato Gonzalez[5] and midfielderJuanito both fromRayo Vallecano, also Rovira fromRCD Mallorca.[6] Left the club retiring of football were Uruguayan central defenderJosé Santamaría and after eight campaigns Hungarian strikerFerenc Puskás too. Also, Aguero was transferred out to Granada, Isidro to Sabadell, Morollón to Valladolid, Pedro Casado to Sabadell and Pipi Suarez to Sevilla.[7]

In theCopa del Generalísimo the club was eliminated byValencia CF in the quarterfinals.[8] Meanwhile, in theEuropean Cup the squad was defeated by Helenio Herrera'sInternazionale in the quarterfinals, losing the two matches of the series (0–1 in Madrid and 0–2 in Milan).[9]
